Experienced Child Care Worker - Group Leader - Needed
Newman Day Care Centre is looking for dynamic and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator to join our small but passionate team and to continue the delivery of exceptional care and education of our children.
Newman Day Care is a community based not for profit long day care centre which strives to create an environment where children feel, safe, secure and supported so they grow in confidence to explore and learn.
Responsibilities and tasks
Be responsible for management of the day-to-day operation of the assigned room, including providing leadership and support to educators and staff within your team in line with relevant regulations, policies and procedures
In collaboration with the Educational Leader assist with the development, implementation and reflection of the educational program to provide a high-quality program for all children and families
Build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, educators, staff and management to deliver best outcomes for families and children
In the absence of the Director/Nominated Supervisor undertake responsibilities as per the Responsible Person policy and procedure for the day-to-day management of the Service
Provide a caring, stimulating environment for the children;
Be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of a developmentally appropriate program
Be responsible for ensuring a safe environment is maintained for both staff and children, and high health and hygiene standards are maintained at all times
Ensure that the centre and service policies are adhered to
Be familiar with and work in accordance with centre policies and procedures, the Act, the Regulations and licensing requirements at all times
Liaise with families and maintain effective communication with the parents of each child
Work with individual children with particular needs
Maintain a positive working relationship with all team members in the centre and to develop a cooperative relationship with all members of staff to assist in smooth operation of the centre and to provide a consistent environment for all children in the centre
Liaise with the Manager in relation to any issues or concerns regarding any child
Liaise with the Manager in relation to children’s allergies, health problems and forbidden foods and be aware of the contents of the child’s file as it pertains to such
Contribute to quality improvement activities and to the centre’s strategic plan
Use and complete all applicable forms
Help the Manager and other staff to promote the centre, including during potential parent visits and any open days
Attend to all staff meetings and be willing to contribute to and participate in any discussions at such meetings
Participate in meetings, conferences, and in-service training courses as appropriate
Provide professional support and input for other staff members
Maintain confidentiality of all information as required by your employment contract
Lift children and outdoor equipment following safe lifting procedures, as required
Qualifications& experience
- Diploma in Children's Services
- Experience working with children in a long daycare centre
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good time management skills
- Competently works independently and committed to a team approach
- Working with Children Check and First Aid Certificate
· Duties
- Supervise and support all children whilst undertaking activities
- Be aware of and implement Individual Learning Plans for children in the service
- Support the program and management including creation of program manuals
- Contribute to the development of play based learning and education programs for children
