Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers operates chemical, gas and fertiliser businesses that service a range of sectors in both domestic and international markets. We have operations around Australia and employ around 1,200 people nationally.

The Technical Services team provide a strategic and forward-looking perspective, a commitment to safety and sustainability and drive to maintain our operational excellence, further our production goals and support our strategies for improvement and growth. We support the LPG/LNG, Fertilisers and Chemical plants at our Kwinana operations (production of gas, solid and liquid products) and seek to maintain a centre of technical excellence through the professional development of our people.

About the Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your existing knowledge and advance your career in supervision and implementation of projects within WesCEF's chemicals, energy and fertiliser facilities. You will gain broad exposure in diverse operations while seeing the impact of your recommendations in sound decision making.

We are seeking to fill a construction supervision role.

Reporting to the Project Manager - Engineering, you will be involved providing construction inputs in design, supervision of construction teams and contractors across a portfolio of projects on site, through completions and Ready for Start-Up (RFSU).

This is a role where maintaining strong collaboration with business stakeholders, contractors and project teams will be essential to success.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage construction teams and contractor on sustaining capital projects to assure safety and quality in site implementation, in line with scope, budget and schedule objectives.
  • Work closely with team members and stakeholders to establish and grow effective business relationships with clients, employees and external parties
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders within a complex landscape to enhance and implement continuous improvement in the project construction and completions framework;
  • Demonstrate commitment to HSE and drive a positive culture within teams of safe working on site that responds proactively to safety and environmental issues.

About you:

You are a skilled construction supervisor with significant experience in brownfield, project delivery in operations such as mining (fixed plant), chemical manufacturing, production / processing plants. You have demonstrated ability to supervise construction on significant brownfield, debottlenecking projects; including:

  • Trade certificate (Mechanical fitter and/or E&I trade - preferred).
  • Minimum of 12 years' trade experience, supervising construction teams and contractors on projects within the mining, chemical or mineral processing industries.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawing and standards.
  • Working experience of using standard software e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel etc. including any computerised maintenance management software (CMMS).
  • Experience with supervising teams of employees and/or contractors.
  • Well-developed leadership and influencing skills and a proven ability to drive a high performance team culture by leveraging company values.
  • Familiar with major CMMS and/or ERP systems (preferably JD Edwards and Oracle EBE).
  • Desire and commitment to working in and managing teams within a strong safety and environmental culture on site.
