The Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Directorate lead the charge in creating and maintaining a safe and healthy environment in compliance with relevant legislation.

About the opportunity
You will work closely with the Manager (Health and Wellbeing) to plan, develop, and implement injury prevention and management services. Your expertise will be crucial in providing consultancies for compensable and non-compensable cases, with a focus on manual handling, mental health, psychosocial risk factors, and ergonomics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management to develop and maintain injury prevention and management systems.
  • Develop, review, and promote health, safety, and wellbeing policies and procedures.
  • Provide professional advice and training on manual handling, mental health, workplace wellbeing, and ergonomics.
  • Conduct investigations and follow-ups on reported hazards, incidents, and injuries.
  • Manage Workers’ Compensation claims and coordinate return-to-work programs.
  • Provide case management services for employees with physical or psychological conditions.
  • Contribute to relevant projects and undertake other duties as directed.

About you
To be considered for this opportunity, you should possess a relevant tertiary qualification in allied health or demonstrate equivalent competency. You will also you have a solid understanding of relevant legislation and a wealth of experience in managing injuries and Workers’ Compensation claims. Your ability to provide effective guidance on injury prevention and wellbeing strategies, coupled with strong interpersonal and communication skills, is crucial. You should be skilled at working both independently and collaboratively within a team, showcasing excellent planning and organisational abilities.

While a postgraduate qualification in related areas is desirable, having a current "C" class driver’s license and a National Police Clearance Certificate, along with the capacity to fulfil the physical demands of the role, are also important requirements.
