The School Curriculum and Standards Division is seeking a highly experienced educational professional with expertise in curriculum and assessment to join their team.

This is a unique opportunity to steer and drive best practice initiatives in curriculum and assessment from Kindergarten to Year 12 in the Curriculum, Assessment and Strategic Policy Directorate and contribute to the School Curriculum and Standards Division’s policies and thought leadership to ensure curriculum supports students to develop future-ready skills to make a difference and thrive.

About the Branch

The School Curriculum and Standards Division is responsible for supporting the School Curriculum and Standards Authority to fulfill the legislative remit of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority Act 1997.

This includes:

  • setting standards of student achievement and for the assessment and certification of student achievement according to those standards
  • developing an outline of curriculum and assessment in schools that, taking account of the needs of students, sets out the knowledge, understanding, skills, values, and attitudes that students are expected to acquire and guidelines for the assessment of student achievement
  • developing and accrediting courses for schools
  • maintaining a database of information relating to the participation of students during their school years in education, training or employment, and records of assessment in respect to students.

About The Role

As Director, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of the Department’s accountability framework, in particular ensuring policies, frameworks and practices comply with and promote accountability.

You will provide quality input to the requirements for adequate resourcing for operations, ensuring allocation of resources is linked with the identified needs of curriculum and assessment and complies with legislation, policies, and procedure. Providing advice to the Assistant Executive Director on matters related to curriculum development, accreditation, review, and moderation will also be an integral part of the role.

You will have curriculum development experience with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be innovative in your approach and open to new challenges and opportunities.

Above all, you will have strong strategic leadership and management skills and a demonstrated record of success of engaging with others to manage and meet stakeholder requirements and expectations.

Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our Division for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
