Description:

Montessori Care is a registered NDIS service provider of in-home aged care and disability supports.
We are currently seeking enthusiastic Feeding Therapist to join our diverse team in Greater Sydney NSW.

As a Feeding Therapist, you will work with infants, children, and adolescents who have difficulties with feeding, eating, or swallowing. Your primary responsibility will be to assess the client's feeding issues, develop individualised treatment plans, and provide therapy to improve their feeding skills and overall nutritional intake. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals, to address the complex needs of clients with feeding disorders.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients with feeding difficulties, including assessment of oral motor skills, sensory issues, behavioural factors, and medical history.
  • Develop individualised feeding therapy plans based on assessment findings, client goals, and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide direct feeding therapy interventions to improve oral motor coordination, sensory processing, self-feeding skills, and mealtime behaviours.
  • Educate caregivers on feeding strategies, techniques, and mealtime routines to promote successful feeding experiences at home.
  • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to coordinate care, share information, and ensure a holistic approach to treatment.
  • Monitor client progress, document therapy sessions, and adjust treatment plans as needed to achieve desired outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, or related field.
  • Licensure or certification in the relevant discipline (e.g., Registered Occupational Therapist, Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist).
  • Specialised training or certification in pediatric feeding therapy is highly desirable.
  • Clinical experience working with children with feeding disorders, preferably in a pediatric or rehabilitation setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Compassion, patience, and empathy for children and families facing feeding challenges.

Working Conditions:

  • Work may be conducted in various settings, including client homes, and community institutions.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate client needs, including occasional evening or weekend appointments.
  • Travel may be required to visit multiple client locations within a designated geographic area.
