Black Star Pastry is thriving, having just moved into our new, purpose built Kitchen HQ in Alexandria, and we’re also preparing for an exciting period of growth. Our team of masterful Pastry professionals is looking for like-minded passionate pastry masters to join the fun!

Working in our watermelon-scented Production Kitchen, you will have the opportunity to craft our iconic cakes, whilst further developing your skills as a Pastry Chef amongst our valued team.

Our kitchen is led by our industry-respected Kitchen Management team who are approachable, kind, and proud of the team they mentor!

Our shift times are between 5am – 5pm depending on the section. Our kitchen does operate 7 days, and in return for your generous availability, we can work together on a roster that awards you great work-life balance.

We want to hear from qualified Pastry Chefs, enthusiastic about working in our Sydney Production Kitchen (currently based at Moore Park – soon to be Sydney Inner-East location).

If you’re our next superstar team member, you will be a qualified Pastry Chef with at least 2 year’s experience.

Here’s how you’ll shine:

Proven experience in a Pastry Chef role.

Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control that does not compromise operational efficiencies.

Pride and understanding the impact the role of Pastry Chef has on the success of the store and Black Star Pastry brand.

Maintain a good level of understanding of the restaurant and hospitality industry and trends.

Build, maintain and contribute toward healthy teamwork and constructive working relationships.

Communicate clearly, professionally, authentically, and concisely, with the ability to make informed decisions.

Ability to be flexible and adapt to meet the changing demands of our agile business.

Our Business

Black Star Pastry opened its first boutique patisserie in Newtown in 2008 and since then we have grown into an institution with stores across Sydney - Newtown, Rosebery, Sydney CBD and Moore Park as well as three stores in Melbourne!

We are most famous for our Strawberry Watermelon Cake which has become a social media sensation, with the New York Times declaring it “the world’s most instagrammed cake.”
