Background
Bushland Management Solutions Pty Ltd are a company who provide services to land owners and managers for the planting, cultivation, maintenance and ongoing enhancement and restoration of gardens with a focus on Australian Native Vegetation.
Award
The skill levels of this position equates to a Level III under the Garden and Landscape Services
Award (2020)
Salary range: $70,000 to $75,000 (plus Superannuation)
Job requirements
- spraying and application of chemicals and other treatment materials to plants and trees to control insects and disease, and felling diseased trees
- preparing and maintaining seedbeds and growing sites for revegetation of native plant communities
- installing plants including trees, bushes, hedges, flowers and bulbs and propagating a diverse range of native plants
- preparing plans and drawings for rehabilitation plans, selecting materials and plants, and scheduling necessary landscape construction
- setting out and installing hardscape and softscape structures on site including edging, mulch, tree guards, pathways
- constructing gravel and paved areas under direction in recreational facilities including installing, walls, fences, pergolas, ponds, barbecues and garden furniture under Supervision of qualified landscape construction staff
- preparing lawn areas by spreading top soil and planting grass and other vegetation including laying instant turf
- maintaining planted and grassed areas by weeding, trimming, fertilising, watering and mowing including the use of hand tools, mechanical tools, herbicide applicators and other means
- pruning vegetation, and installing plant support and protection devices as necessary
- examining trees and other vegetation to assess their condition and determine treatment if required, with a focus on native landscapes
- lopping limbs off trees and shaping branches using chain and handsaws, including cutting and painting removal or control of woody weeds
Desirable qualifications and skills
AQF Certificate III qualifications in an appropriate relevant field including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
Chainsaw accreditation –Cross cut felled Trees
Senior First Aid
Chemcert / Smart train
Persons with at least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
