About the role:

As the Internal Communications Advisor you will work as part of a team to develop, deliver and manage Council’s internal communications program and channels.

You will oversee the development of a new internal communications strategy, bring fresh ideas to the rollout of internal communications, tailored by platform and audience, provide expert advice and assistance to the CEO, Executive Team and other business units on internal communications matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with a variety of internal stakeholders to create, manage and rollout effective internal communications plans.
  • Draft high quality written materials that align with Council’s strategic and corporate goals, including messages from the CEO, Executive Team, and staff newsletters
  • Explore innovative ways to create new, or improve existing, communication channels and mechanisms to meet staff needs.
  • Provide practical and strategic advice to the CEO, Executive Team, and managers across Council on internal communications planning, strategy and best practice, including change management
  • Oversee the management of Council’s intranet, including developing content that is relevant, timely and accurate
  • Mentor and manage the Internal Communications Officer, including delegating tasks, reviewing their work and manage workloads
  • Plan and deliver quarterly all-staff forums, and other internal staff events

About You:
The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Degree qualification in communications or a relevant discipline.
  • Previous experience in delivering internal communications across large organisations. Government experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience providing advice to senior executives on communication strategies and approaches, including working on contentious or sensitive issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience in preparing high-level messaging and speeches
  • Proven ability to communicate, negotiate, build relationships and influence others to achieve organisational goals

What’s on offer:
We are offering an attractive remuneration from $121,735 to $134,009 plus 11% superannuation.
