The Mechanical Designer will be involved in a range of modelling and CAD tasks supporting design of High-Speed Weapons or parallel programs.

Based either at our Melbourne Office in the World Trade Centre or our Mitcham office on Wurundjeri land, and reporting directly to the Engineering Manager - High-Speed Weapons, your role will encompass:

  • Designing and developing components and systems for solid rocket motors, components and tooling

  • Conducting prototyping, troubleshooting, trials and demonstration of designs

  • Creating, interpreting and analysing 3D CAD models, drawings and technical documents

  • Configuration management of design artefacts

  • Managing parts through production with external stakeholders

  • Producing drawings to relevant standards

On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:

  • 3+ years of industry experience in a similar role

  • Experience in design and manufacturing environments

  • Design & drafting experience using CREO

  • Knowledge of engineering materials in relevant area

  • Knowledge of GD&T, 3D CAD and PLM System

  • A high level of interpersonal, organisational and communication skills

  • Understanding of quality systems and procedures

  • Able to interpret and analyse drawings and technical documents

  • Willingness to conduct hands-on prototyping and development activities

  • Ability to meet the requirements for professional membership of Engineers Australia

  • Flexibility to travel
