Payroll System & Process Analyst

Appreciating Talent
Sydney Full-day Full-time

Description:

  • 12 month FTC with potential to extend
  • SAP & Kronos UKG systems (rare chance to gain exposure to SAP!)
  • Projects will focus on systems testing & compliance

The company: Your new employer is a top 100 ASX-listed corporation with an annual turnover exceeding $1bn. They operate in every state across Australia and boast a dominant market share in an industry that never sleeps. The office is based in south Sydney, very close to all forms of public transport.

The role: The Payroll System & Process Analyst is a newly created position reporting to the National Payroll Manager (who is one of the best in the business!), and is designed to assist with several upcoming projects across the Payroll function - primarily current T&A system calculations & upstream compliance testing.

You will carry out various scenario-based tests across SAP & Kronos to ensure all payroll interpretations are accurate & correct. If not, resolutions will need to be discussed & developed in conjunction with the NPM. You will also be required to think 'upstream' and scan for potential Payroll compliance issues that could affect the business before they've even happened!

Other duties:
  • Contribute to process improvement by identifying and delivering payroll and service delivery improvement activities to the business
  • Flag impacts that Payroll /Time and Attendance changes may have on upstream and downstream systems and proactively manage these to minimise disruption to BAU processes.
  • Performing scenario/regression testing and UAT testing on the End-to-End processes.
  • Develop and maintain open communication and good working relationship with People Services, I.T. and other internal stakeholders.
  • In conjunction with the National Payroll Manager manage business expectations efficiently.
  • Support the Payroll Team to ensure Payroll Systems are capable of processing monthly/fortnightly pay runs and implement any fixes/changes as required.
  • Work with suppliers and associated Subject-Matter Specialists to ensure Payroll/Time & Attendance systems are configured for the business to meet its award, taxation, superannuation, entitlement, and other legislative and statutory obligations.
  • Support project-related data cleansing activities and audits, to ensure compliance with legislative requirements in respect of leave accruals, PAYG, superannuation, STP and payroll tax.
  • Conduct individual and group training workshops and/or group product demonstrations when required
  • In conjunction with the National Payroll Manager establish a culture of high performance, professionalism and continuous improvement that encourages individuals to identify opportunities and solutions to improve service delivery, achieve outcomes and meet established deadlines.
The role is initially offered as a 6 - 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential to extend, depending on business requirements.

The candidate: This position represents a great opportunity for two types of candidates:

1. A Senior Payroll Officer with strong SAP / Kronos skills, who is looking to step out of B.A.U. payroll and into a project-driven position.

2. An experienced projects specialist with a strong track record of testing system/ T&A configurations & compliance issues in general, but would like to learn SAP/ Kronos.

Depending on your previous relevant experience, a salary of up to $120,000 + Super is on offer for this role, which also provides flexible hybrid work-from-home options and offices situated within very close access to public transport.
