About Us

Australian canola is in high demand globally for its use across food products, bio diesel and as a feed stock. With canola production on the rise, Cargill, a key supplier of high-grade canola oil to customers in Australia and Asia, is investing to expand its crush capacity and increase production of canola oil and meal as well as cottonseed oil and meal.

This includes an upgrade and restart of Cargill’s Narrabri plant which has been modified into a dedicated cottonseed dehulling plant. The hulls from Narrabri will cater to domestic feedstock markets and cottonseed meats will be transported to Newcastle where it will be further processed into oil and meal.

Job Purpose and Impact

This is a 12 month fulltime role and we are hiring multiple positions. The Dehulling Technician will be a member of a small production team and will require the applicant to work in the weighbridge, dehulling plant, meats and hulls loadout on a rotating basis.
The Dehulling Technician will be required to work on shift during times when is plant operating. Key Accountabilities

Adherence to Cargill’s Environment, Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.
Completing required safety documents and permits
Operation of the Dehulling process
Maintenance and repair of dehulling equipment.
Cleanliness of the Dehulling area and equipment
Doing overtime to cover absent employees
Recording of plant operating parameters
Routine testing of safety devices
Machine maintenance and adjustment
Operation of Front End Loader
Operation of Forklift
Weighing and documentation of vehicle movements
Inspection of incoming trucks for cleanliness
Sampling and moisture testing of incoming seed trucks
Issuing of sample containers for all out-going loads
Other duties as assigned Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Experience in high level on plant and equipment operational skill
Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently to colleagues
Ability to accept new or changing work demands

Excellent communication skills are essential, as the appointee will interact with drivers, visitors, and plant staff. Computer skills and past weighbridge operation experience would be an advantage.

The applicant must be willing to work shifts during the production periods

The successful candidate must of good nature and able to follow direction and work as part of a team. Good problem solving skills, literacy and numeracy are essential

A trade or previous process operating experience would be an advantage. Applicants should be comfortable with computers as a large part of the operation involves using the plant control system interface.
