An exciting opportunity exists for two motivated and experienced executives to join the Economic Policy and State Productivity Group as Executive Director, Energy, Resources and Environment Branch and Executive Director, Economic Strategy Branch at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

The Executive Director, Energy, Resources and Environment Branch will work at the centre of government and help shape policy in a high profile and challenging portfolio. The Branch advises the Deputy Secretary, Secretary and Premier on a broad range of policy initiatives and major projects across the energy, earth resources, environment, climate change, public land, water and agriculture portfolios.

The Executive Director, Economic Strategy Branch will provide high-level advice and support to the Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, and Premier on a broad range of economic policy, strategy and productivity issues, including related to consumer affairs, markets and regulation, and local government. The role also contributes to identifying emerging economic and fiscal policy issues and leads the department's contribution to the annual state budget process and related performance initiatives.

DPC is a dynamic, high paced work environment. The varied work requirements include research and analysis of complex, cross-cutting government policy issues, providing high quality briefings for the Premier and senior executives in DPC, and maintaining relationships across Victorian Government organisations.

We are looking for candidates that can demonstrate composure under pressure, have experience of working on complex policy issues, and have strong interpersonal communication and writing skills. About You

To be considered for this role, you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated experience working at a senior executive level within government including on a broad range of policy initiatives and major projects across the energy, earth resources, environment, climate change, public land, water and agriculture portfolios. (Energy, Resources and Environment role).
  • Demonstrated experience working at a senior executive level within government including preparing influential fiscal policy and economic strategy advice. (Economic Strategy role).
  • Proven experience and demonstrated capacity to identify and address complex and emerging policy issues through high-level conceptual analysis.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage a range of complex projects through partnerships with people across business areas, functions and departments, including those of a whole-of-government nature, and deliver timely, high-quality outcomes.
  • Proven high-level representational and communication skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate effectively at senior levels, and a proven capacity to develop effective relationships with a range of government and non-government stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead and manage people and create the conditions for high-functioning, productive and engaged teams.
