Job description:
First Quantum Minerals is one of the world's biggest mining companies, employing over 20,000 people.
Ravensthorpe Nickel Operation is our flagship operation in Australia. Located on the beautiful south coast of Western Australia, we are just a short commute from the coastal community of Hopetoun. As a major nickel producer and exporter, we aim to ship up to 30,000 tonnes of nickel concentrate each year via Esperance Port.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role is responsible for ensuring a high standard of repairs and maintenance to be performed on the mining housing, infrastructure, camp accommodation and facilities. The role will participate in the day to day operation of the Services maintenance department, including caring for infrastructure and identification of proactive repair and maintenance requirements.
Key Accountabilities

• Demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety and the safety of your co-workers
  
• Carry out the repairs and maintenance of buildings, infrastructure and associated equipment on-site and accommodation facilities.
  
• Be familiar with and be able to operate a variety of hand and power tools.
  
• Develop strong working relationships with tenants, managers and staff, interacting with them and attending to requirements on a daily basis
  
• Manage a diverse work portfolio across multiple job fronts.
  
• Carry out work to a high standard and produce a quality outcome.
  
• Assist new employees in proper work procedure and practices
  
• Assist with the procurement of materials, planning and organisation of projects as required.
  
• Perform any other duties are requested by your supervisor.
  

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• A trade certificate in Carpentry or related field
  
• A minimum of 5 years working knowledge and experience of repairs and maintenance tasks including but not limited to, general carpentry, cabinet repairs & installs, flooring, wall partitions, ceilings, plastering, concreting, painting, window & door repairs, garage roller doors, roof plumbing, various maintenance repairs and landscaping
  
• A clear understanding of preventive maintenance & work management systems
  
• A proactive approach to maintenance requirements and application
  
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
  
• Familiarity with best practices in Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental procedures and legislation policies
  
• Ability to multi-skill, work within a team & autonomously
  
• Hold Current WA manual driver's license
  
• Working at heights
  
• Enter and work in confined spaces
  
• Be able to operate a variety of hand and power tools
  
• Fork lift and EWP license desirable
