Location: Sydney, NSW
Contract Length: Full time, May 2024 – September 2024 or earlier start date pending availability

Role Overview:
The Paralegal / Legal Assistant will work closely with the Legal Services teams to:
- set up a file/advice register where all our advice is consolidated and work with Principal Lawyers to map out how all legal files should be organized and file accordingly
- assist in the development of standard operating procedures for legal services, including a style guide and file naming guide
- create new legal files and update as required
- ensure all legal requests and advice in our case management system and
- corresponding electronic files are up to date
- maintenance of records related to financial management of matters
- including invoices, purchase orders, procurements etc.
- administration of requests for advice through the Legal Services Portal reporting on compliance with Legal Services Directions
- managing legal subscriptions and memberships
- the collection of data for FOI reporting, senate estimates, media requests etc.
Business –
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and processes related to each of the specialist legal teams
- Assist with processing freedom of information requests
- Assist with record and file management
- Assist in managing internal communications for legal
- Assist with legal research as required
- Provide general administrative support
- Take responsibility for managing workload and meet relevant deadlines Identify areas of legal risk
- Make operational decisions within defined parameters following established procedures and protocols
- An understanding, or ability to acquire an understanding of the Online Safety Act.
- Interest in online safety and an ability to acquire an understanding of the broader regulatory environment
- Ability to establish and maintain effective internal working relationships.
