The role

With a Property portfolio of $14 billion including comprising an unlisted property portfolio of more than $8 billion and listed property investments of more than $5 billion, UniSuper is a market leading participant in the property market delivering long term returns for our members. We are seeking an investment analyst to join our high performing and award-winning Investments team.

The position will be responsible for delivering enhanced performance from shopping centres such as Karrinyup (Perth), Pacific Fair (Gold Coast), Macquarie Centre (Sydney), Malvern Central (Melbourne) and Marrickville Metro (Sydney). Working in the property team and reporting to the Head of Property, you'll be working alongside the Senior Manager Property and our external manager GPT Group to provide strategic oversight and implement investment initiatives on our directly owned property retail portfolio.

Whilst focused on the directly owned shopping centres, the role will offer opportunities to work alongside the broader team on the diversified property portfolio including the fund's industrial and office assets, exposures to leading wholesale pool managers such as Goodman, ISPT, Dexus, GPT, Mirvac, Lendlease and QIC as well as collaborating with the broader UniSuper Investments team.

Areas of focus will include:

  • Implementing key strategic initiatives as detailed in the annual asset class strategy
  • Assist with ongoing day-to-day asset and portfolio management primarily focused on the retail property portfolio
  • Developing and cultivating relationships with each underlying manager and key internal and external stakeholders within the asset class
  • Driving comprehensive and disciplined due diligence on new investments, and ongoing due diligence for existing investments
  • Review and manage corporate actions and periodic asset valuations
  • Assist with implementing ESG initiatives for the property portfolio including reporting, on-going monitoring and engagement with key stakeholders
  • Monitoring, managing and measuring the key characteristics and return drivers of the asset class

About you

As an experienced analyst, you should be a self-motivated individual with strong personal integrity, seeking to join a highly successful in-house investment team. You will also bring:

  • Relevant experience gained in either investment management, analysis, advice and/or asset management within the Property asset class
  • Experience in the retail property sector would be an advantage
  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum 5 years experience with a sound knowledge of the Australian property industry, including its participants, key markets and structure
  • Investment analysis and/or research experience within financial markets
  • Proven analytical ability and technical competence, paired with well-developed project management and organisational capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to communicate at all levels within an organisation
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaborating successfully within the broader investments team
