Role & responsibilities
Below are some of the roles and responsibilities of job demands but are not limited to:
- Ensure all compliance paperwork for participants is completed by support workers across all shifts, taking necessary actions to maintain compliance standards.
- Maintain updated appointments in the communication book.
- Prepare daily reports for clients.
- Manage and maintain the vehicle log book.
- Scan and save paperwork in the system.
- Undertake additional tasks as requested by the office.
- Regularly update participants’ care plans.
- Ensure proper maintenance of company property and vehicles.
- Manage grocery needs for participants on a weekly basis.
- Assist participants with mobility and communication requirements.
- Participate in individual care planning.
- Observe and report changes in participants’ conditions, and address any care-related complaints.
- Assist with rehabilitation exercises, basic treatments, and medication delivery.
- community access with participants, incl. shopping, medication pick-up & general hobbies
- documenting participant progress & changes through detailed note-taking
- administering medication where needed
- meal preparation for participants where needed
- providing emotional support and friendship.
Requirements:
- Qualifications : At least a Certificate III or IV in Disability Care, Individual Support, or a related field is must.
- Experience : Previous experience working in a similar role or with individuals with disabilities is highly preferred. This could include experience in aged care, disability support, community services, or related fields.
- Police Check : A valid police clearance or criminal record check is usually required to ensure suitability for working with vulnerable populations.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check : It is mandatory for all workers of registered providers engaged in risk assessed roles to obtain a clearance from the screening process.
- Working with Children Check : If the role involves working with children or young people with disabilities, a working with children check may be necessary.
- First Aid and CPR Certification : Require candidates to hold current first aid and CPR certification.
- Driver’s License : A valid Full driver’s license is required.
- Key Skills and Attributes : Disability Support Workers should possess strong interpersonal skills, empathy, patience, and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals with disabilities and their families. Other important attributes include flexibility, reliability, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to promoting independence and inclusion for people with disabilities.
- Legislative Knowledge : A good understanding of relevant legislation, such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Australia is required.

Pay: $62,000.00 – $72,000.00 per year
