About the role

We are excited to announce that we are on the lookout for a Geologist/Mining Engineer - Digital Solutions Specialist to join our AusPac Digital Solutions Team in Perth working from Mondays to Fridays with a flexible working environment.

The Geologist/Mining Engineer (Orica Blast Modelling) is critical for introducing new technologies across Orica's regions. Reporting to the Manager - Blast Modelling, this role provides the opportunity to be part of a program of work designed to broaden and differentiate Orica's capability with new market-leading digital technologies.

The Geologist/Mining Engineer needs to have a customer-centric mentality and consider all the elements required to deliver a great customer experience for new solutions launched to the market. In particular, this role will be required to identify and manage the implementation of systems, processes, and procedures necessary for the successful commercialisation of new industry technologies. Project management, and onsite specific professional experience will be required to lead various program initiatives. This role will be required to provide expert consultation in the production geology and grade control domain while working closely with our customers to provide valuable solutions.

The Geologist/Mining Engineer - Digital Solutions Specialist ensures that Orica's Blast Modelling suite of technologies are introduced and represented professionally to the mining industry.

What you will be doing

  • Identification and implementation of systems, processes, and procedures for scalable release of new solutions to Orica's markets across AusPac;

  • Project management of various workstreams required for the overall program, including;

  • Co-ordination of customer projects and opportunities;

  • Co-ordination of daily tasks and business priorities;

  • Execution of market analysis, technical solutions, and quality consultation ;

  • Customer onboarding, training and support for Orica's blast modelling technologies;

  • Management of customer commercials including contract proposals and renewals;

  • Deliver customer feedback to Orica's product team to help guide the development of new technologies (Provide input into an overall development roadmap, support models, and proposition development);

  • Support the product marketing strategy;

  • Provide input for the annual budget process and commercial strategy.

What you will bring

  • For Geologists: production geology and grade control experience (resource modelling, resource estimation, and reconciliation); or, for Mining Engineers: mine scheduling and drill and blast experience;
  • Possesses a strong technology competency with the ability to manage data, models, and modern software applications;
  • Project management experience;
  • Customer relationship management experience;
  • Technical writing and presentation skills;
  • Office and field-based training and mentoring experience;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Must be able to travel internationally to remote locations when required, estimated travel of 20-40%;
  • Candidates with project management and/or stakeholder management experience will be highly desirable.
