Aveley North Primary School (PS) is seeking a dynamic and innovative educational leader to join our collaborative leadership team to achieve the targets and key performance indicators of the current Business Plan. We are ideally looking for an experienced administrator, with an excellent grasp on supports for students with disabilities, who is ideally committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for all our students within a One School Model setting. The successful applicant will lead an Endorsed Program for students with disabilities in our inclusive setting. Therefore, a solid pedagogical background, experience in differentiating whole-school programs, sound knowledge of the WA Curriculum including ABLEWA, Positive Behaviour Strategies, an understanding of Enrolment Policies, and proficiency with Disability Resourcing is highly desirable. The Deputy Principal will be able to lead a high performing team within a phase of development and possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

Key components of the role include being a contemporary instructional leader who understands and supports the school's direction, commits to developing a whole school instructional model through supporting and mentoring teachers within collaborative curriculum and year level teams. The Deputy Principal should display the commitment and experience to drive a culture of excellence in teaching and learning at our inclusive school, have a strong understanding of our whole school programs and value a distributed leadership model. The successful applicant should have the capacity to support both student and staff well-being.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.
