The opportunity

Are you an experienced and forward-thinking risk management specialist? Do you want to drive impact in identifying and addressing operational risk for one of Australia's largest organisations currently undergoing a large scale transformation?

QBE's Australia Pacific (AUSPAC) Division is embarking on an enterprise digital transformation, which is fundamentally different to anything undertaken previously. The AUSPAC Modernisation will materially improve our customer, partner, and employee experiences to deliver our AUSPAC strategy. To ensure effective operational risk management of this Modernisation, we are currently hiring for a Senior Risk Manager - Modernisation role.

Your new role

This role presents an exciting opportunity to take a hands-on approach to risk management, where your primary responsibilities will be to implement QBE's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework within the AUSPAC Modernisation, specifically to support delivery of our technology and data initiatives including regulatory approvals, delivery and delivered risk assessments, and controls assessments as we move key workloads into the cloud.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct comprehensive program risk assessments related to process, technical and data changes within the AUSPAC Modernisation, considering strategic, operational, financial, reputational, and regulatory risks.

  • Work with business and functional stakeholders to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address identified risks, ensuring a smooth and secure transition during our ongoing transformation.

  • Manage the end-to-end regulatory approval processes for material outsourcing and workload materiality assessments.

  • Support development of cloud controls assessments to meet regulatory obligations

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and project personnel to integrate effective risk management into the change management process, specifically tailored to our current transformation.

  • Provide insights and guidance to senior leadership regarding the risks associated with strategic decisions and change initiatives as we undergo this organisational transformation.

  • Effectively communicate risk assessments and mitigation strategies to stakeholders, employees, and management to support our ongoing transformation efforts.

  • Drive continuous improvement in our risk management processes by learning from past experiences and emerging industry trends, contributing to our ongoing transformation's success.

About you

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate should possess:

  • Experience delivering risk management services within a large organisation, within a large scale enterprise transformation

  • A deep understanding of operational, financial, compliance, and reputational risks within a transformational environment

  • Expertise and experience with managing risk in a cloud environment

  • Proven expertise in developing and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies to support organisational change.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, crucial in the context of our ongoing transformation.

  • Ability to lead complex projects, ensuring timely delivery of outcomes and alignment with organisational goals.

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant certifications (preferred) or equivalent industry experience
