How will I Help?

Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB) manages the financial needs of corporate, institutional and government clients that are based, or have interests in, Australia and New Zealand.

The Banks and Insurance Relationship team sits within the Corporate and Institutional Bank (CIB) and manages and delivers strategic engagement to a diverse group of Domestic and International Banks and Insurance companies.

The role is based in Sydney and will report to the Head of Banks and Insurance Relationships.

As an Associate within the Banks and Insurance team you will be responsible for supporting a team of coverage bankers deliver best in class products and services to our customers. As a core member of the team you will be involved in implementing a wide range of institutional banking products and services as well as being responsible for the safe operation of the Banks and Insurance coverage team by making sure that all our reporting and processes are successfully implemented.

To be successful in the role, you will support the development and execution of sector strategies, and work closely with key stakeholders including risk, product, business development and Customer Insights and Analytics.

Additional Accountabilities Include:

  • Customer centric activities including:

  • Coordinating the professional delivery of solutions for customers including by developing customer presentation material.

  • Coordinating communication to customers

  • Supporting the development of customer relationships and attendance at customer meetings where appropriate.

  • Origination support:

  • Preparing and coordinating refinance/new product pricing approvals using internal systems.

  • Preparing and coordinating internal and external account planning.

  • Preparing revenue reporting and forecasts; and

  • Acting as interface with the customer for client service matters.

  • Industry strategy including involvement in, coordination and delivery of:

  • Written industry strategies including related research and analysis; and

  • Deep dive industry analysis

  • Ad hoc tasks to support customer needs and deliverables.

  • Overseeing internal and external hygiene matters necessary for the smooth running of the Bank and Insurance customer portfolio.

What do I need?

To be successful you will have the following:

  • Confident and competent individual who has demonstrated success in a fast paced, team-based environment and proficient in customer-facing environments.
  • High commercial acumen and appetite to develop and apply corporate and financing knowledge.
  • Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Project management skills and credit experience is desirable.
  • Highly numerate with the ability to navigate complex systems.
  • Degree qualified - Business/Finance/Accounting/Economics preferably
