Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to be Responsible for ensuring the Precoat line is run according to specifications. The console operator monitors all line conditions and makes adjustments to heat, speed, Latex add on, and other raw materials as needed to ensure first quality coating.
Areas of Responsibility
- Monitor and be aware of incoming and outgoing carpet per the production schedule.
- Constantly monitor the puddle size, cup weight, coating width and roller speed; adjust when necessary.
- Monitor dam guides and ensure that they are always in the proper position, adjusting them if necessary.
- Monitor puddle consistency, guiders, line speed, tensions, add-on, back pressure, etc.
- Inspect and clean applicator and rollers as needed.
- Continuously monitor the application of latex and various other stations via video tracking.
- Coordinates with sew-on operator to monitor entry J-bin for appropriate levels, wraps, and jams.
- Communicate and receive feedback to/from other line personnel on matters requiring immediate action.
- Escalates any operational issues to the Leading Hand
- Demonstrate safe working behaviours
- Ensure incoming and outgoing carpet meets specification requirements (Width, Tuftlock, Add-on, etc...)
- Ensures sew-on operator has sampled carpet before the precoat process and coordinates with the sampling with the testing operator, of the same carpet after the precoat process.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Basic computer skills including Word and Excel and other database programs (JDE) or a willingness to learn
- Experience in a manufacturing or operator role is desirable, specifically precoat line operation experience highly preferred.
- Understanding of the precoat application and drying process.
- Ability/experience in troubleshooting mechanical/electrical situations pertinent to line control.
- Basic mathematical concepts including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
