Job Overview

In your position as Workshop Leading Hand, you will lead a small team of welders/boilermakers. Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the productivity of the workshop team, whilst maintaining quality standards.

Your extensive welding skills and leadership capabilities will drive the team towards professional excellence. Your interpersonal skills will lead you to develop effective professional relationships with customers and co-workers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a small workshop team, supported by the Workshop Supervisor.
• Maintain communication with customers, addressing their enquiries in an effective and professional manner.
• Ensure the workshop meets productivity goals, whilst maintaining quality standards.
• Whilst this is an ‘on the tools’ role, there will be associated administrative tasks, such as invoicing, scheduling, and job management.
• Address and resolve any challenges in the workshop.
• Work collaboratively with all members of the team.
• Ensure yourself and all team members work with a safety mindset.
  
  

About You

• Welding trade qualifications, with at least 2 years post trade qualifications experience.
• Proficiency using a wide range of hand and power tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• An eye for detail and a commitment to providing high-quality work.
• The ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Adherence to safe work practices and encourage the same of your colleagues.
