About the Role
We are currently seeking to fill a vacancy of Aboriginal Health Practitioner.
The role identify health needs in the community, conduct health programs and provide clinical and health awareness services. Under the guidance of the Senior AHP, the Aboriginal Health Practitioner will plan, implement and evaluate programs that will address health issues within the Aboriginal community. The position contributes to a multi-disciplinary team in health care planning, practice and evaluation for clients of CHAC. This includes providing clinical support for GPs, Clinical Nurses and other clinical staff in service delivery.
Key position requirements are:
- Develop, implement and evaluate culturally appropriate health promotion, education and preventive programs targeting key areas of health needs such as diabetes, asthma and heart disease
- Assist the clinical team to deliver programs to educate the community with culturally appropriate information
- Provide comprehensive health screening, adult and child health checks to clients under the supervision of the CHAC GP and Clinical Team Leader
To be successful for this position you may have the following skills or experiences:
- Certificate IV in Aboriginal Health
- Current AHPRA registration
- Basic to intermediate computer skills and experiences with a range of computer software
- A sound understanding of health-related issues that impact on Aboriginal people
- Demonstrated people skills and a willingness to work collaboratively to address a range of health issues.
- Demonstrated reliability and commitment to the community that CHAC serves
- Strong willingness and ability to undertake and participate in ongoing training and professional development
Remuneration and Benefits
- This is a Full Time position, 38 hours per week Monday to Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm, Friday 8 am to 4 pm.
- These positions are provided for under the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services Award 2020.
- Remuneration will be negotiated based upon previous skills, abilities and experiences.
