An exciting opportunity exists for an AO8, Manager, Student Wellbeing, State Schools - Disability, Inclusion & Student Services to lead projects and provide expert advice to schools on supporting the wellbeing of students.

This permanent vacancy will commence as soon as possible.

We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead development and implementation of complex state-wide initiatives to support students’ wellbeing and mental health.

About The Role

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Provide leadership and direction in the implementation of a broad range of critical portfolios which have a direct impact on how schools support students' mental health and wellbeing.
  • Lead planning and implementation of State Schools Division priorities, to align outcomes to the Department's agenda for improvement in schools.
  • Provide high level strategic advice to senior officers of the department and other key stakeholders on issues relevant to supporting all students' wellbeing and mental health.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of State Schools Division priorities for all students in state schools.
  • Lead and manage team members and projects and establish and cultivate effective relationships and networks with key stakeholders and clients.
  • Prepare and review briefing material, correspondence and reports for the Minister, senior departmental officers, government agencies and other entities on issues related to supporting all students' wellbeing and mental health.


Highly desirable skills and knowledge;

  • Exceptional writing skills, critical analysis and ability to apply whole-of-government perspectives.
  • A track record in achieving high levels of productivity autonomously, in complex, sensitive or high-pressure environments.
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal communication, with an ability to consult and negotiate persuasively on strategic policy issues and facilitate stakeholder meetings and briefings to senior management.
  • Strong understanding of the factors that influence students' wellbeing and mental health, and of best-practice approaches and interventions that can be implemented in schools to support students' wellbeing and mental health.
