Description:
We are seeking an experienced Exercise Physiologist with a strong background in designing and implementing exercise programs for individuals with disabilities covered under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for promoting physical activity, improving functional capacity, and enhancing the overall quality of life for clients with diverse needs and abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate clients' physical fitness, functional abilities, and health status.
- Develop personalized exercise plans tailored to clients' individual goals, preferences, and NDIS funding allocations.
- Implement evidence-based exercise interventions, including aerobic conditioning, strength training, flexibility exercises, and functional movement activities, to improve clients' physical function and overall well-being.
- Provide ongoing support, coaching, and motivation to clients to help them adhere to their exercise programs and achieve their desired outcomes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including allied health professionals, support coordinators, and caregivers, to ensure holistic care and coordinated support for clients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessment findings, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes in accordance with NDIS requirements and organizational standards.
- Advocate for clients' access to appropriate exercise and rehabilitation services within the NDIS framework, while promoting inclusion, accessibility, and equity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Exercise Physiology or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Accreditation with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP).
- Minimum of [X] years of experience working as an Exercise Physiologist, with specific experience in NDIS settings preferred.
- Strong understanding of disability-specific exercise programming, adaptive equipment, and assistive technologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, while also demonstrating initiative and autonomy in clinical practice.
- Commitment to upholding professional standards, ethical principles, and ongoing professional development in the field of exercise physiology and disability support.
Other requirements include:
- Willingness to travel.
- Driver's licence and a safe, reliable vehicle with insurance
- Home office space or the ability to create an appropriate working space in your home (if appropriate)
- Have a laptop/computer for notes and reports.
