We have an exciting opportunity at nbn, as Network Engineer, NMC reporting to Network Manager NMC

A bit about your role

The Network Management Centre (NMC) within Customer and Network Services (C&NS) is responsible for managing the NBN Network's availability, ensuring exceptional customer experience during unplanned outages, and meeting the Wholesale Broadband Agreement (WBA) uptime assurance targets. The Network Engineer NMC provides technical expertise across all nbn managed services and works on the development, improvement, and implementation of Network Restore processes. They collaborate with Delivery Partners, nbn stakeholders, RSP, and Customers utilising premium nbn products, to deliver a brilliant customer experience, with the support of automation/simplification initiatives to achieve desired business outcomes.

The Network Engineer NMC supports broader C&NS teams and Delivery Partner capability uplift in their area of expertise. They handle related complex issues, escalations, development, and emergency management functions. They also support broader NMC teams in restoring Network Incidents, Escalated Service Incidents, High Priority Network At Risk Incidents, and Service Incidents. This role operates within a 24x7x365 business environment and requires the development of skills to work effectively autonomously in a shift environment. The Network Engineer NMC team is accountable for various tasks including Incident Management, Service Incident Management, Alarm Management activities, and managing internal, external, senior escalations and HSE escalations.

A bit about you

The Network Engineer NMC role requires strong experience in Telecommunications or Network operational environments, and technical competence, telecommunication systems and tools. The candidate should have experience working in a 24x7x365 rotating shift roster environment, and ideally, industry-recognized certification in routing, switching, and other core aggregation technologies, along with Access technologies including HFC and FTTx. Having ITIL V3 foundation or working experience within an ITIL environment is preferred. They should also have working knowledge and End to End understanding of these various technologies and relevant network protocols.

In terms of practical, specialist, and technical skills, the role demands high attention to detail, process-driven approach, high-level negotiation skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The candidate should have exposure to telecommunication tools & systems. Other required characteristics include practical knowledge of Incident Management function in a 24x7 NOC, Customer Escalation Management, high level of self-motivation, ability to work under minimum instruction/supervision. Excellent communication skills with an ability to speak with different hierarchies are mandatory. This role requires an ability to Work in a 24x7x365 shift environment, in a rotating roster, working public holidays as rostered.
