PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
The role of a Game Master is to ensure that all players have the best experience possible and this all starts with you! The Game Master should be enthusiastic, approachable and engaging towards all customers as you are the one who sets the tone for the experience that is to come. A Game Master will also possess the following:
- Story telling skills and humour; an ability to have fun with your groups as well as making them feel comfortable!
- Public speaking and showmanship. A large part of the position is aimed at interacting with customers, getting into character with the potential for mild dramatisation throughout their game and most importantly creating an unforgettable experience!
- Communication skills and approachability
- Organisation skills, an ability to "think on your feet"
- Patience and fairness
- Attention to detail! This is a particularly important requirement to the job when checking over room resets, following the customers throughout their game to ensure the correct sequence of events is being played out, as well as checking over equipment to see if it may need replacing or fixing.
Game Master Role
The main role of the Game Master is customer service and ensuring that the players are having a great experience. This begins from the moment they step through the door, during the game and until they leave. The role of the game master also includes the following:
- Greeting customers and directing them through the pre-game requirements e.g. Bathrooms, waivers, team names, lockers.
- Safety Brief
- Introduction to rooms
- Hints during game dressed in theme of the room
- Greeting customers at the completion of the room (whether they escape of not)
- Team photos and farewell to patrons
- General cleaning and tidying
- Room resets and cleaning upkeep
- Minor repairs
