About the Department:

The Department of Education are dedicated to building an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the community and schools we support by treating everyone with respect and dignity. This starts with recruitment and selection. The methods of assessing suitability in the recruitment process may vary. This includes making reasonable adjustments to support applicants at all stages of the process and employee lifecycle.

About Urangan State High School:

Our award-winning school has a population of approximately 1500 students from Year 7 to Year 12. With a focus on implementing the curriculum with fidelity, we have a late start for students every Monday and Friday so that our teachers can collaboratively plan curriculum with alignment and precision. This provides an additional 110 minutes of focused planning time each week to our teachers, improving work/life balance. You can find out more about this program, and our school more broadly, on our school YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/uranganshs.

Our school is a friendly, happy, and busy place where our focus is on developing individual and collective excellence; for an inclusive, dynamic, and cohesive community. We aim to develop a safe, supportive, and inclusive culture that fosters a sense of belonging and purpose for all; enabling us to celebrate our successes as members of a dynamic, cohesive community. In doing this, we help to discover the best within all students, through high quality educational and social experiences that expose them to new ideas, new ways, and new possibilities - ultimately supporting every student to have opportunities for "what comes next".

Role:

As the Business Manager, you will:

  • Demonstrate considerable autonomy and play an important role in providing advice which dictates business service delivery outcomes, inspires change and models best practice. Manage conflicting priorities to ensure strategic and sustainable business services outcomes.
  • Work in a specialised environment, requiring the development of operational methods, policies, practices and standards to support the school's administrative function, and where problem resolution is frequent (demanding the conceptualisation, identification and development of ideas, detailed analysis of alternative courses of action and devising action plans to overcome the challenges of a complex school environment).
  • Lead and manage human resources for school support staff (through the identification of emerging talent, promotion of excellent performance outcomes and mentoring individuals to achieve their professional potential); and oversee a breadth of activities (e.g. recruitment, induction, training, vacancy processing, skill gap analysis, performance management, rehabilitation processes).
  • Knowledge in Infrastructure and Health, Safety and Wellbeing would be beneficial but not necessary.

Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.

Interested? To Apply:

  • Attach a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant work history).
  • Attach a 1-page written statement about how your achievements and capabilities meet the requirements of the role.

We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.

Applicants need to be a current Queensland Government employee to be eligible to apply.

Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.

When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.

Salary rate shown is reflective of full-time (1.0 FTE).
