Mixed Livestock & Cropping Skilled Farm Hand - Progression Options, Collie Nsw

Drover Ag Recruitment
Dubbo Full-day Full-time

Description:

A dynamic mixed role in a family enterprise with cattle, sheep & cropping while developing your skills for potential progression.

The Role
A family enterprise grazing trade cattle and sheep on 3,200 acres alongside 6,000 acres of dryland cropping provides a dynamic and mixed farmhand role for an energetic candidate. Ideally you will have experience and knowledge in both livestock and cropping with motivation to progress your career and potentially motivated to take on a position of responsibility within the business in the future.
Utilising modern machinery, the cropping program aims to be minimal till; however, some areas still require cultivation. Ideally you would be comfortable with all aspects of the cropping cycle, as well as a confident and competent machinery operator. Some mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills are preferred; there is the opportunity for this aspect of your skillset to be further developed under the tutelage of the trade-qualified Diesel Mechanic owner in the well-appointed workshop to whom you directly report.
The flock and trade cattle are grazed within a traditional grazing program on improved pastures, with all movements conducted on bikes and buggies; dogs are not utilised in any stock work on the property. You will be involved in all aspects of animal husbandry, fencing, and general infrastructure maintenance across the farm.
Working directly with the owners, you will enjoy a welcoming family business, who are willing to train and provide a supportive opportunity for personal growth to enable future progression within the enterprise.
The Offer
Your dedication and attention to detail will be rewarded with a quality salary, a work vehicle with some private use, and utilities for your comfortable and airconditioned 3-bedroom home located on-farm.
Located just 20 minutes outside of Collie and 30 minutes out of Gilgandra, you will have easy access to a range of services, including schooling and healthcare providers and opportunities for partner employment.
The Ideal Candidate
The candidate we are seeking will have experience in both farming and livestock, who is energetic and looking for a long-term career, along with the following traits:
  • Machinery operation experience
  • Basic agronomy knowledge
  • Low-stress stock handling skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills
  • Familiarity with the cropping cycle
