About Regional Development Australia (RDA) Townsville and North West Queensland:

Regional Development Australia (RDA) is a nationwide network funded by the Australian Government, comprising 50 regional committees. Each committee is led by local representatives dedicated to fostering regional development. RDA Townsville and North West Queensland (TNWQ) is a not-for-profit incorporated association spanning 14 local government areas. Our committed volunteers passionately champion regional economic development.

Job Purpose:

As the Communications and Stakeholder Officer, you will play a pivotal role in assisting the development and implementation of RDA TNWQ's communications and stakeholder engagement strategy. You will be responsible for coordinating internal and external communications, managing stakeholder relationships, and raising the profile of RDANQ.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing the organisation's communications and stakeholder engagement strategy.
  • Manage and coordinate internal and external communications, including media relations, social media, and website content.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including media, government, and community groups.
  • Coordinate and manage events that promote the organisation and its work.
  • Prepare and edit written materials, including press releases and presentations.
  • Monitor and analyse media coverage and stakeholder feedback to inform and improve communications efforts.
  • Ensure all communications align with the organisation's mission and values.
  • Provide communications support and advice to other RDA staff as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or equivalent.
  • Experience in marketing, communications, and/or stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Experience with social media and website management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
