Our Social Carers are independent contractors who support people in the community who have become isolated due to age, disability, injury, or circumstance. The support they provide is varied but does not require them to become involved in any kind of medical or personal care. Instead, they help people with activities that build independence, encourage social interaction, and allow them to enjoy life.
Your role and responsibilities:
In this position, your responsibilities could include:
- Companionship
- Skills Training (eg. teaching someone to take public transport)
- Social activities, like movies, fishing and going to concerts
- Cooking and meal preparation
- Help with appointments (eg. doctors) and errands (eg. grocery shopping)
- Light exercise, such as walks
- Local transport and getting around
- Assistance with Cleaning
- Assistance with Gardening
We're especially looking for Support Workers with experience in any of these key areas:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Anxiety Disorder
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Depression
- Schizophrenia
- Intellectual Disability
- Chronic Pain
- Developmental Delay
- Speech Impairment
Role requirements:
Requirements for the role vary based on what type of support services you would like to provide. At minimum, all applicants are required to have (or be willing to obtain) the following prior to starting work:
- The right to work in Australia and 100 points of identification.
- An Australian Business Number and Bank Account as you would be an independant contractor.
- 3 references
- Double vaccination against COVID-19 or a valid medical exemption.
- COVID-19 Infection Control training
To work with Aged Care and Privately-Funded clients , you must also have:
- A Police Check issued within the last 3 years OR
- An NDIS Worker Screening Check which is easily applied for via the Department of Justice and COmmunity Safety website.
To work with NDIS Participants , you must have:
- An NDIS Worker Screening Check .
- NDIS Worker Orientation Training, available for free on the NDIS Commission website.
To be eligible for additional work, applicants may also consider obtaining the following:
- A Working with Children’s Check valid for paid work to be eligible to work with clients under the age of 18
- An Australian drivers licence and registered and insured vehicle to be eligible to claim transport costs
What you can expect from your work as a Social Carer:
- $41-$55 per hour for 1-on-1 support
- $57 - $80 per hour for 2-on-1 support
- $63-$88 per hour for 3-on-1 support
- $210 for 8 hour overnight shift in which you are able to sleep for 8 hours and provide 2 hours of active support.
