Description:

If you have a thorough understanding of the ins and outs of public relations, and you know how to build a strategy that achieves cut-through with key audiences, you’ll enjoy the variety offered in this communication role. Training:

With your public relations qualifications, the Defence Force will teach you all the skills you require through leadership and military training at the Royal Military College, Duntroon in Canberra. This initial training is 42 days.

Following your initial training, as a Public Relations Officer, you will attend a range of specialist Military Public Affairs and other military courses to enhance your skills.

You’ll get to take advantage of the many opportunities to see more of Australia and the world. You could work in a specialist public affairs unit, as a staff adviser around Australia, at Australian Defence Headquarters in Canberra, or other units in Sydney, Brisbane, Townsville and Darwin, or deploy overseas on operations, exercises or other Defence activities. It’s not possible to guarantee a specific posting location for the duration of your service, therefore you must be willing to relocate.
