Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transport Manager to join our team at Freight Express Australia Pty Limited. As a Transport Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our transportation operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining high standards of efficiency and safety.
Job Tasks:
- Communicate with clients to understand their needs and offer suitable transport solutions.
- Address customer complaints effectively and ensure satisfaction.
- Receive orders and bookings, and create transportation schedules accordingly.
- Organize the purchase and maintenance of transport vehicles, equipment, and fuel.
- Ensure goods are stored and transported under optimal conditions to maintain quality.
- Arrange the collection and delivery of vehicles and goods as required.
- Maintain comprehensive business records, operational statements, and reports.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of fleet controllers, local drivers, and subcontractor drivers/carriers.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to optimize individual performance.
- Manage all transport-related operations, including resource allocation and scheduling.
- Monitor and maintain fleet performance to ensure vehicles are well maintained and compliant.
- Manage relationships with subcontractor drivers and carriers, ensuring service level expectations are met.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety protocols.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational efficiency.
- Address operational challenges promptly and resolve conflicts within the transport process.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure all deliveries are made on time and in the correct manner.
- Maintain vehicles and ensure services are carried out as required.
- Conduct staff evaluations, recruitment, and training.
- Follow company procedures regarding driver-related issues.
- Monitor wages, budgets, and freight charges to stay within guidelines.
- Coordinate routing of trucks and staff for maximum delivery and service.
- Communicate regularly with Sales Representatives regarding customer requirements and driver feedback.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven Track Record: AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma or higher (or equivalent qualifications) Minimum 03 years of operations and management experience in road freight transport.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of relevant regulations to ensure compliance and safety.
- Highly Organized: Self-driven, reliable, and adept at multitasking to meet deadlines.
- Problem Solver: Logical thinker with foresight to resolve challenges and anticipate issues.
- Licenses and Skills: Valid Driver's License, Forklift License (with loading/unloading capability), strong communication skills.
- Tech Proficiency: Competence in MS Office, MYOB, and general computer skills.
