As Cabinet Legislation and Liaison Officer, you will:
• Provide the Minister, Director-General and DYJ Executive Leadership Team with high quality advice on all Cabinet, Executive Council, legislative and Parliamentary matters.
• Review, critically evaluate and coordinate the progression of Cabinet Submissions, Briefing Notes and Executive Council Minutes, including documentation for Community Cabinet activities, possible parliamentary questions, questions on notice and petitions, and ensure they have been developed in accordance with government guidelines.
• Coordinate and provide executive services support to the Director-General and the Minister on Cabinet, Executive Council and legislative proposals.
• Communicate decisions arising from Cabinet, Cabinet Committee and Executive Council meetings to relevant departmental officers and monitor the implementation of those decisions.
• Engage with the Cabinet and Legislation Liaison Office in the Department of Education (part of the Minister's portfolio), Cabinet Secretariat, Executive Council Office, Parliamentary Counsel on the content and status submissions, briefing notes, bills and minutes.
• Provide advice and support for departmental staff on Cabinet, Executive Council, legislative and other Parliamentary business procedures and processes.
• Manage, supervise and monitor the performance of the team and promote a team environment that encourages open communication and the pursuit of best practice principles.
• Manage the secure storage, handling and dissemination of Cabinet documents within the Department, in compliance with relevant departmental and Governmentwide guidelines.
