WPC Group has an exciting opportunity to become a qualified Heavy Vehicle Apprentice, specialises in the repair, maintenance, and inspection of semi-trailers. They are responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of trailers, which are crucial components of the commercial trucking industry. You will be joining a renowned organisation in Wetherill Park. We are seeking a 1st-year apprentice who is keen and committed to their apprenticeship, with a passion for the heavy diesel industry.
About the Apprenticeship:
- Receive excellent training from tradespeople with decades of experience
- Receive a dedicated mentor through the duration of your apprenticeship, with assistance enrolling into TAFE
Duties:
- Conduct routine inspections of semi-trailers to identify mechanical, electrical, and structural issues. This includes examining the trailer's suspension, axles, brakes, lights, tires, electrical systems, and other components to detect problems and determine the extent of repairs needed
- Perform necessary repairs and maintenance tasks on semi-trailers. This may involve replacing or repairing damaged or worn-out components, such as brakes, bearings, suspension systems, lights, flooring, and doors. Additionally, conduct preventive maintenance activities, including lubrication, adjustments, and inspections
- Inspect defective equipment and diagnose malfunctions using the appropriate test instruments
- Conduct welding and fabrication work as needed to repair or modify trailer components. This may involve welding or fabricating new brackets, supports, or structural elements.
- Disassemble and overhaul various components, recondition and replace parts
- Repair and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment
- Read job orders and observe operating equipment to determine faults
- Comply with pre-determined maintenance schedules
- Maintain a clean and tidy work space at all times
- Adhere to safe working practices at all times
