Role Purpose

The role of the Digital Marketing Manager is to develop, manage, and optimise the delivery of all our online marketing channels to supply the right message to the right customer at the right time – providing first class customer experience and driving a profitable business outcome.

In collaboration with the POLITIX Marketing and CRG group teams, this position takes ownership of a comprehensive channel mix including leading the Politix Plus customer experience program and email strategy, messaging, paid social media, paid search, affiliate, display, online video, SEO, mobile apps and more.

The role of the Digital Marketing Manager is focussed on developing new and innovative strategies to help attract new customers, drive loyalty and repeat purchase from our existing members and develop a roadmap of customer journeys to engage members to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the Group Digital team and Digital Manager, develop the digital marketing strategy & plans across paid digital channels, SEO and email marketing to deliver on seasonal and brand marketing strategy and key e-commerce KPIs
  • Develop channel briefs for digital marketing campaigns and ensure the execution of digital marketing plans across paid digital channels and email, SEO & SEM in accordance with the Marketing Timeline and deadlines
  • Oversee the creation of technical briefs, testing, remediation and approval for scheduling / deployment for emails, website features, paid advertising
  • Work with the broader Marketing Team to ensure that our digital marketing activity aligns & is consistent across digital channels. Support the brand marketing team with guidance on channel strategy for campaigns that drive top of funnel activity
  • Report on performance of all paid & owned digital channels, sharing insights and collaborating with Graphics & Content Team and Marketing & PR Team to optimise performance of creative & content development
  • Lead the POLITIX customer experience strategy alongside the group loyalty team – including acquisition, retention, personalisation and engagement strategies. Defining key objectives and KPIs for the program annually
  • Lead the execution of weekly email marketing; ensure creative meets brand, campaign and email marketing objectives and that all email and mobile communications are delivered on time, to the correct segments and to required functionality.
  • With CRM, regularly review performance of POLITIX Plus program, email marketing and mobile marketing to deliver against program and broader Marketing KPI’s.
  • Work with Retail team to ensure customer experience in-store is also aligned with member acquisition and retention strategies, driving acquisition targets and outcomes
  • Working with marketing leads to use loyalty audience data strategies to find new customers and drive more value from existing customers
  • Manage, develop and execute an integrated email marketing strategy in line with broader marketing initiatives to drive engagement and sales
  • Manage and support the group loyalty team with the delivery of email communications in line with specified production timelines including content planning, artwork requirements, email build, tracking and measurement
  • Apply leading experimental practices (A/B Tests) to continually optimise customer communications and improve conversion
  • Database segmentation analysis to maximise communication performance
  • With the PR & Marketing Team, develop any digital marketing strategy & plans for David Jones. MYER and other partners such as Afterpay, Klarna, Student Beans etc.
  • Manage and deliver costs against planned budgets optimising key digital KPI’s e.g.: site traffic, search share, ROMI, CPC
  • Weekly performance marketing reporting (all channels)
  • Monthly deep dive email, loyalty and performance marketing reporting
  • Management of the Digital Marketing Coordinator including, professional development, succession planning and stakeholder engagement and advocacy
  • This role is required to work collaboratively across differing business functions, ie: group, IT, retail operations, Online, to ensure project timelines, check ins and stakeholder alignment throughout.

Experience Required

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the retail industry
  • Strong experience of digital performance channel planning
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills
  • Advanced understanding of ecommerce & digital marketing operating systems
  • Extensive Google Analytics 4 data reporting and analysis experience
  • Strong understanding of SEO best practice and implementation
  • A good understanding and knowledge of web store operations and retail trading
  • Technical skills – strong proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Accuracy and exemplary attention to detail
  • Superior communication skills – written and verbal for internal and external stakeholder & relationship management.
