About the role
The Aboriginal Development Officer is responsible for improving access to and achievement of higher level training for Aboriginal clients. This could include advising clients and students on career options, liaising with schools regarding opportunities available to them, providing assistance with student applications; and providing input into the planning and development of regional employment and education and training support strategies.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have an ability to identify, develop and implement appropriate vocational educational and training programs for Aboriginal people, develop and maintain collaborative networks with internal and external stakeholders and an ability to work with Aboriginal students, their families, and the community.

Other Conditions and Eligibility
Eligibility for employment is subject to obtaining a satisfactory Department of Education Criminal Clearance. If this position involves contact with children, the recommended occupant will also be required to obtain a Working with Children (WWC) Card.

To be eligible for appointment applicants must have a working visa (for fixed term contract appointments) or permanent residency (for permanent appointments).

This selection process may be used to identify suitable applicants for similar vacancies that arise within the next twelve months.

SR TAFE has a shutdown period of up to 12 working days over Christmas/New Year. Arrangements for paid leave in advance or leave without pay during the shutdown period will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
