This is a six (6) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024 with possible extension and/or permanency.


Governor Stirling Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an experienced, motivated and highly organised individual to fill the position of Manager Corporate Services


The Manager Corporate Services should be responsible for implementing sound consistent management and budgeting practices and systems. The successful applicant will ideally have well established financial management capabilities, be a strategic financial leader and possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. You should also review current school financial practices, implement improvements, and have experience in using the Schools Resourcing System. You will ideally be flexible and reliable and able to work independently with autonomy. Proven experience in a Year 7 to Year 12 Senior High School would be highly regarded.


The successful applicant will work with the Administration Support Team who share a strong team ethos and a solution focussed outlook and are focussed on delivering improved outcomes. As a member of the leadership team, the Manager Corporate Services will share the responsibility for inspiring and leading support staff in their commitment to the core values of the school and will provide strategic advice on financial and physical resourcing processes.


The Manager Corporate Services is intrinsically involved in the implementation of the school's Business Plan and the implementation of changes necessary for the progression of our priorities. The successful applicant should also have a broad understanding of relevant legislation, reporting and governance requirements relating to the role, and effectively display the ability to lead a team of school support staff. Experience in infrastructure management, maintenance and works projects would be highly regarded.


Governor Stirling SHS, situated on the banks of the Swan River in Woodbridge, was reopened in 2013 with state–of–the–art facilities, catering for students of varying abilities and offering the Department of Education Gifted and Talented Academic Program. The school also offers a range of academic and Vocational Educational Training (VET) programs and Approved Specialist Programs in Engineering, Arts Media, and AFL Football. Governor Stirling SHS prepares students for life after high school with many options for academic and vocational pathways. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.


To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):



  • High-level human resource management skills, including the ability to develop and/or apply human resource management practices and processes.
  • High-level financial management skills, including budget preparation and the ability to understand and apply financial and accounting practices and procedures.
  • High-level written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in the application of high-level customer service principles and practices
  • Experience in effective leadership of a team.
  • Ability to provide high-level human resource consultancy and financial advice in the development, implementation and management of business and marketing plans.
  • Well developed problem solving and risk management skills, including the ability to provide innovative solutions to strategic and complex problems and issues.

Eligibility and training requirements


Employees will be required to :



  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
