About the Role
The University of Melbourne's online education space seeks a visionary Operations Director to join our senior leadership team. This newly created role is key to redefining online education.

You'll be instrumental in crafting, optimising, and scaling our online portfolio, ensuring exceptional student experiences from admissions to ongoing support. As a leader, you'll inspire a collaborative, student-centric team focused on continuous improvement and unwavering excellence.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operations Excellence: Craft seamless student journeys, build data-driven operations, and empower your team for data-informed decisions.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Foster strong alliances across the university, leverage data sharing, ensure quality, and contribute to university initiatives.
  • Scalable Growth: Optimize team efficiency, source external support, and implement innovative models to manage fluctuating demands.
  • Leadership & Culture: Guide and inspire a diverse team, establish performance frameworks, and cultivate a student-centered, data-driven, and innovative work environment.

Who we are looking for
We're searching for a leader who can inspire and guide a team to achieve ambitious goals. This person will be a strategic problem-solver, adept at collaborating with diverse stakeholders and communicating effectively at all levels.

You will also have:

  • Educational Qualification : Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Operational Expertise : Extensive experience in operations management, with a track record of delivering high-quality customer experiences at scale.
  • Commercial Acumen : Demonstrated understanding of commercial principles and business acumen, with the ability to identify and capitalise on opportunities.
  • Decision-Making Through Data : Experience leveraging data beyond analysis to optimize operations and make strategic decisions.
  • Agile Ways of Working: Experience implementing agile methodologies and fostering a culture of agility and adaptability, enabling rapid response to changing market conditions and student needs.
  • Organisational and Project Management Skills : Strong organisational and project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively plan, prioritise, and execute multiple initiatives simultaneously.
