Aboutthe Position
The keyrequirement of both positions is to improve the turf standard ofservice across the City’s 55 sports fields and playingsurfaces, leading to a safer, healthier playing surface as well asenhancing the ability to withstand the rigours and demands of sportseasons annually.
KeyResponsibilities
The duties ofthe Turf Maintenance Operator will include but are not limitedto :
- Undertake routine or reactive maintenance works in accordance with turf maintenance schedules or as directed by the Team Leader, report progress and completion of works daily.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities, with intent to backfill the Team Leader positions as required.
- Implement Turf Management treatments and practices throughout the City’s Parks and Sustainability Business Unit.
- Ensure that regular turf condition inspections of sites within your jurisdiction are conducted and documented to confirm that service levels are to the agreed levels and identification of sites with serious defects and require rejuvenation are recorded.
- Follow forward plans for turf rejuvenation & maintenance initiatives with the Team Leader.
- Help identify locations on your turf maintenance schedule to the Team Leader reporting issues such as, weed (pest / disease) infestations or any turf damage.
- Actively foster the philosophy and practice of rotating with other Team Leaders and Operators to ensure the multi-skilled approach.
- Demonstrate good listening and oral communication skills to communicate effectively with customers, other employees, and on-site contractors.
- Attend and actively participate in regular toolbox meetings with field staff encompassing workplace safety, work practices and schedules and related issues.
- Provide feedback on any faults / incidents or machinery maintenance to the Team Leader.
- Perform and complete other tasks as directed by the Team Leader and / or other Parks and Sustainability Business Unit staff within the required timeframe,

- Certificate III in Turf Management or demonstrated equivalent competency.
- Certificate in Basic Worksite Traffic Management.
- Certification in Chainsaw Operation and Maintenance.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of turf maintenance and irrigation practices
- Understanding of operator maintenance in a turf management environment or similar

Bothpermanent full-time positions are a Level 5 Outside WorkforceAgreement position which attracts a salary from $68,405 - $71,518gross pro rata per annum plus superannuation.
