Benedict Recycling in Belrose is looking for a Site manager to join our team on a full time basis.

The Site Manager will oversee the site and staff at the facility and is responsible for ensuring production targets are met during each shift. In addition to this, the Site Manager is responsible for aspects of safety, environment, people management, quality, and customer for their shift. This role will directly support the Operations Manager and duties may vary from time to time as required by the Operations Manager.

Role Responsibilities:

Production:

  • Manage production feed rates and product yields to meet production targets as provided by the Operations Manager, and ensure Plant operates at maximum efficiency during the shift.
  • Assign tasks and job roles to employees for the shift to ensure production targets are met.

Customer Service:

  • Ensure we always maintain a high level of customer service.

Plant & Equipment Maintenance:

  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Supervisor to manage planned equipment maintenance and minimise downtime on shift.
  • Respond to breakdowns and coordinate with maintenance to ensure plant is operational.
  • Identify equipment maintenance issues and liaise with Site Manager to resolve these issues.
  • Ensure employees complete pre-start check at start of each shift.
  • Promptly investigate all incidents of plant/ equipment damage from misuse and report through MYOSH.
  • Ensure all plant start up and shut down procedures are performed safely, efficiently, and according to company procedures.

Workplace Health & Safety:

  • Ensure employees on shift hold appropriate competencies for the plant and equipment they are required to operate.
  • Conduct training regularly on safe work procedures and other safety related modules to ensure employees are competent.
  • Maintain site housekeeping standards and Enforce site PPE Standards.
  • Respond to workplace injuries and ensure appropriate first aid is rendered, utilising the Initial care service.
  • Ensure all employees are aware of and comply with company’s WHS policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all JSA’S and work permits are prepared where required and are appropriate for the task.

People Management:

  • Foster a positive & productive working relationship and culture between the team members and with other departments.
  • Manage day to day people issues such as attendance, tardiness, minor issues, and complaints.
  • Conduct daily toolbox meetings with employees.
  • Ensure all paperwork such as checklists and daily production sheets are completed accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Ensure employees are punctual with their time keeping and rostered shifts, both at start time and returning from breaks.

Human Resources:

  • In conjunction with the Human Resources Department, assume the responsibility for hiring and training of employees, and where applicable enforcing disciplinary actions.
  • Conduct performance appraisals & identify areas of personal development for all employees.
  • Manage leave planning for the site, including managing excessive leave entitlements.
  • Complete probationary period check ins with new hires.

Environment:

  • Monitor key environmental areas during the shift including, but not limited to dust suppression, water, and noise.
  • Be aware of environmental regulations and manage regulator visits to site during the shift.

Quality:

  • Ensure all projects are in line with product gradings and compliance.
Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in Construction, Quarries, Waste or Recycling is desirable.
  • Previous leadership in team management.
  • Be mechanically minded.
  • Awareness of heavy plant machinery environments and safety implementation.
  • Capability to work efficiently in high-pressure settings, prioritise tasks, and drive a strong safety culture.
  • Essential certifications: first aid, EWP, working at heights, and a valid driver's license.
