Role Summary:

A unique and exciting opportunity for a Senior Development Manager is available in our Regional North team.

Based in Karratha and reporting to Manager Regional North you will be responsible for autonomously co-ordinating a range of projects across the Pilbara Region. The role includes management of your own projects, stakeholder management and supporting the wider Regional North team on a substantial number of diverse and complex property-related projects to ensure they are consistent with local strategic plans and DevelopmentWA priorities.

Oversight of Regional North’s Pilbara Reconciliation Action Plan and Aboriginal Heritage Act obligations and initiatives across the Pilbara region also form part of the role.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

You will be responsible for managing and co-ordinating diverse and complex property-related projects and evaluating and making recommendations on potential projects relating to the assembly and delivery of land and other property solutions. Other responsibilities include:

  • Manage complex business cases and implantation plans to meet business objectives.
  • Respond to changes in government policy while understanding corporate challenges and priorities to meet objectives and deliver outcomes.
  • Manage cost planning and expenditure within budgets and procedures and continually evaluate opportunities, risks and priorities to anticipate issues and generate project solutions as well as alternate project and stakeholder strategies.
  • Effectively integrate consultant disciplines.
  • Effectively use systems and information to manage complex projects to time, cost and quality targets and balance outcomes including commercial, design and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure project close out, including review or project deliverables against expectations, shared learnings and financial documentation as required.
  • Travel around the Pilbara is required.

About you:

You will have an understanding of the issues and challenges of the region and demonstrated experience dealing with regional communities, Crown land matters, Aboriginal Native Title and Heritage matters and Traditional Owner groups.

In addition to the above, to be successful in this role you will have the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver project outcomes.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in land or property development project management roles.
  • Proven ability to scope project requirements and develop and present viable project business cases to senior management and deliver on financial management, sales and communications strategy and delivery of project management milestones.
  • A strong focus on communication style, leadership and the ability to negotiate particularly in building relationships with numerous stakeholders from a range of industry and public/private sector backgrounds.
  • Ability to work within existing policies, systems and processes to ensure corporate governance.
  • The ability to complete land assembly tasks including native title negotiations and planning frameworks, feasibility assessments, cash flows and risk analysis as well as experience in, strategic industrial, general industrial or other land development projects (desirable).
  • A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable.
