THE POSITION:
This position will work with the Aboriginal Community Development Officer in developing and reviewing strategic documents that have a focus on Social Matters.
You will work with the community to deliver on actions outlined in AlburyCity Reconciliation Action Plan, other strategic documents and assist Community organisations to deliver events, such as NAIDOC and Reconciliation Week. It will work with key stakeholders to assist in identifying gaps, assist to build capacity and support programs to empower the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide administrative support to community groups when required.
  • Develop and review strategic documents and reports for the Aboriginal Community Development Team.
  • Establish and maintain relationships within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community.
  • Implement actions within strategic documents that are relevant to the team.
  • Represent Council on various committees such as NAIDOC & Aboriginal Advisory group Committees.
  • Work with the community to deliver community events and programs such as Sorry Day, Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week and other significant events identified by the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
  • Provide support and advice to AlburyCity Teams, Executive and Councilors regarding Indigenous matters.
  • Deliver collaborative projects between AlburyCity and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community/Organisations and other services and partners.
  • Research and identify grant and funding opportunities including, overseeing applications, project implementation, evaluation, liaison with the funding body and acquitting the grant.
  • Identify gaps and work with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community to build capacity and empower people.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
  • Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.
  • Observe appropriate AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding day to day operations including Equal Employment Opportunity policies, AlburyCity's Dress Code and Standards Policy and AlburyCity's Code of Conduct.
