Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) is the national body representing over 15,000 members in the speech pathology profession. SPA supports and regulates the ethical, clinical and professional standards of its members as well as lobbying and advocating on behalf of all Australians living with communication and swallowing difficulties.

SPA presents an exciting, fixed-term, part-time, entry-level role suitable for a recent graduate or a final-year accounting student who is based in Melbourne, requiring 50-60 hours per fortnight.

As a graduate accountant at Speech Pathology Australia, your daily tasks will include assisting with tax preparation, financial statement analysis, bookkeeping, and general accounting duties. You will work closely with the finance team and gain valuable hands-on experience in various areas of taxation and accounting. This is a hybrid role with flexibility to work from home and our National Office in Melbourne CBD. There is flexibility to accommodate your study schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Monthly reconciliations
  • Assist with maintaining Fixed Assets register
  • Assist and support of BAS preparation
  • Payroll processing including superannuation
  • Assisting with interim and year end audits
  • Assist the finance team with ad hoc projects and tasks

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (recently completed or completing final year)
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good attitude and willingness to learn
