About the Opportunity
The Business Analytics, Data and Reporting team (BARD) is a small team responsible for data analytics and reporting at the OAIC. The team delivers data capability including reporting and analysis that connects decision makers to insights that better inform their decisions.

Your work with the BARD team is an opportunity to develop and apply your analytical skills and strategic understanding, while delivering data analytics that support informed decision-making through accessible and digestible products. You will be supporting all functional areas of the agency including Corporate and the Operational branches and gain experience working with a diverse range of data.

The team prides itself in supporting our stakeholders, and innovation and continuous improvement in our products and data processes.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Data Analyst. As a data analyst, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to help drive informed business decisions. This role offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals looking to start a career in data analysis.

About The Role
The duties of the role include:
  • Collecting, cleaning, and organizing data from various sources
  • Analysing data to identify trends, patterns, and insights
  • Creating visualizations and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of data-driven strategies
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business objectives
  • Other ad-hoc data requests.

Key to succeeding in this role is experience in understanding business processes and converting data into actionable insights to inform decisions at operational and executive levels. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated ability to:
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data into meaningful information for decision makers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, using formulas, formatting and graphs to analyse data and prepare meaningful reports
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and a passion for problem-solving.

Highly desirable
  • The following knowledge and demonstrated experience is desirable:
  • Vocational or tertiary education in a relevant field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Economics.
  • Understanding of the use of PowerBI and SQL databases as tools for data analysis.
