Your Role at St John of God Subiaco Hospital

As an experienced Barista, you will consistently produce a high standard of hot and cold beverages in a busy, high volume environment.

The Barista engages well with café customers by delivering a high standard of hospitality and service whilst operating in a timely manner.

They also strive to exceed customer expectations through proven experience with adjusting the grind, milk texturing, and pouring and making latte art.

The Position

Welcomes customers by determining their coffee interests and needs

Make a deliberate, personal effort to engage with café customers.

Maintain a high standard of customer service : through friendliness, speed and efficiency.

Maintain high levels of personal presentation, customer interaction, constructive communication and teamwork.

Make delicious coffees and other beverages as required within specified time guidelines (and to the correct specification).

Strive to exceed customer expectations through proven experience with adjusting the grind, milk texturing, and pouring and making latte art.

Prepare every beverage order with a sense of urgency even during low turnover periods.

Process customer payments at the till with friendliness, speed and accuracy (collecting correct payment from all customers and providing correct change for cash transactions).

Adhere to the café standards for product presentation and portion size.

Ensure the security of cash, stock and equipment.

Maintain high levels of general cleanliness and hygiene standards in all front-of-house areas.

Follow the correct procedures for regular hand washing and maintaining a high level of hand hygiene.

Assist in the dishwashing process as required during each shift.

Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of counter and storage areas as required.

Maintain cleanliness of coffee making equipment and ensure correct calibration.

Manage preventative maintenance of equipment (grinder, espresso machine and water filtration) with external contractor.

You will have experience in consistently producing a high standard of hot and cold beverages in a busy, high volume environment with an eye for detail and knowledge of up to date coffee trends, including a willingness to learn new coffee production.

With skills in adjusting the grind, milk texturing, pouring and making latte art, and working knowledge of basic manual handling principles and be physically capable of undertaking duties including the carrying of meals / coffee, lifting and being on feet for considerable periods during the working day.

To succeed you will engage well with café customers by delivering a high standard of hospitality and service whilst operating in a timely manner, with ability to work autonomously and within a team environment;

and a high standard of personal presentation and punctuality. This position also requires understanding of occupational health and safety principles to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace and the familiarity with the maintenance and service needs of coffee making equipment, and available for a range of shifts (morning and afternoon) across a 7 day operation are also required for this role.

We can offer you

Salary : $ 58,110 to $60,862 (pro-rata for part time) plus 11% superannuation

A permanent Part Time position, working 30 hours a week.
