A major bank is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Architect to plan build and execute a data centre migration for their home loans book. You will be responsible for the high level plan build and design of the data centre.You will analyse and design a solution that provides a detailed migration strategy of the current
Infrastructure Platform to the new setup including methodology and tooling.
The Infrastructure Architect will need to review the current platform, future state requirements & interim state requirements to aid in the development of the future infrastructure platform design and datacentre
migration strategy working closely with the Network Architect, Applications Architect, IT Operations SMEs and Datacentre Project Team.
The role requires someone who has extensive experience across multiple Infrastructure Architecture Domains, Datacentre Migrations and on-premises infrastructure designs leveraging Nutanix HCI technology, with VMWare and preferably experience within the stringent security and availability requirements for the financial services delivery.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILIES:
• Develop and document functional and non-functional requirements for the future infrastructure platform running primarily on Nutanix and VMWare.
• Develop and document functional and non-functional requirements for the Datacentre Migration
• Produce a High Level Infrastructure Design for the future x86 Platform and associated services
• Produce a Detailed Infrastructure Design for the future x86 Platform and associated services
• Produce a detailed migration strategy and associated tooling required to move workloads from current Datacentre and x86 platform to the new Datacentre minimising any downtime.
• Design and lead Proof-of-Concepts for validating DC migration scenarios.
• Standardise environments and automate provisioning of servers and migration steps.
• Produce a DR testing plan for Infrastructure Services once migrated to the new Datacentre.
• Produce detailed decomissioning plan for the legacy equipment to be left in the old Datacentre.
• Ensure that all parties understand the solution and elaborate on the solution design where required to achieve these goals.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
• 10 years’ experience working in a similar role in a Mid-Large corporate environment.
• Strong proven background in Infrastructure Architecture, in particular being able to demonstrate understanding around design governance, frameworks, patterns.
• Extensive experience with architecting infrastructure solutions across the technology domains of datacentres, infrastructure platforms (x86, including Nutanix) & networking systems (LAN, WAN)
• Extensive experience with Datacentre migration planning and execution.
• Strong knowledge on Discovery and Analysis, provide right sizing, target state mapping, understanding the master discovery which includes compute, storage, network, application, database to prepare move group plan & Runbook
• Strong knowledge on host-based migration tools, Software Defined Storage migration tools, database migration tools, network extension tools as appropriate.
