Position Profile: The Child and Adolescent Health Service are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our Dental and Maxillofacial Surgery team at Perth Children's Hospital.

As a Dental Assistant , you will provide dental assistance to Dental Specialists, General Dentists, Registrars and Oral Health Therapists treating paediatric and eligible patients in outpatient clinics, operating theatres, and other areas of the hospital.

Reporting to the Senior Dental Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide chairside and clinical assistance to Dental Specialists, General Dentists, Registrars and Oral Health Therapists treating eligible craniofacial, cleft, maxillofacial, emergency paediatric dental and trauma patients in outpatient clinics, operating theatres, or other areas of the hospital.
  • Provide dental health education as directed.
  • Selecting and tracking reprocessed dental instruments and equipment for each patient.
  • Recording patient data on observation charts.
  • Take intra-oral records including stereolithographic, photos and radiographs if appropriate qualification or education has been received/obtained .
  • Ensure equipment, furniture and fittings in the clinic are maintained in good order and hygienic condition.
