Our team

The Parks and Wildlife Service at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions manages over 31 million hectares of national parks, marine parks, conservation reserves, State forests and other reserves throughout Western Australia. In addition, we are responsible for the management of fire mitigation, weeds and feral animals on another 91 million hectares of unallocated Crown land.

  • We carry out fire management, threatened species conservation, land and infrastructure management, nature-based tourism and education programs.

About this role

As Regional Manager Warren you will:

  • Support and nurture a culture of safety, teamwork, comradery, professionalism and instil a can-do attitude in your team.
  • Oversee the management of over 1.5 million hectares of conservation estate and provide leadership, support and guidance to approximately 180 staff.
  • Be supported by the Donnelly District Manager and their teams based in Pemberton and the Frankland District Manager and their team based in Walpole.
  • Lead and support extensive engagement with Traditional Owners, key stakeholders, and leaders in regional communities.
  • Ensure that service delivery aligns with complex and diverse strategic and business priorities.
  • Oversee fire and visitor risk programs and incident management, as well as participate in a rostered duty officer role.

The Regional Manager Warren is one of nine regional managers across Western Australia that support the Executive Director Regional and Fire Management Services to deliver integrated frontline and operational services and programs across the State.

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with:

  • Evidence of empowering leadership experience in a large multidisciplinary team and substantial competence in long term planning and financial and risk management.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated skills in stakeholder engagement and management with Traditional Owners and with other leaders working for and in regional communities.

Extensive experience in the field of natural land and resource management including conservation, fire management and parks and visitor services.
