About Us:

Bidgerdii Community Health Service is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service, operating in the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region for close to 30 years. The organisation is a bulk billing community-controlled health service, managed by a Board of Directors who oversee and manage the strategic directions of the service.

Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary health and well-being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions. Bidgerdii collaborates with health and well-being partner agencies to enable integrated continuity of care for the community and continue to work to contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy and program reform in Queensland.

About the Role:

Bidgerdii Community Health Service is seeking a proactive, energetic and professional Human Resources Trainee to join our corporate service team.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain an entry level position that will potentially provide an opportunity for dedicated and passionate individuals to kick start their career within the medical / health service industry whilst completing a Certificate III in a related discipline over a twelve (12) month fixed term traineeship. On successful completion there will be opportunity for full-time permanent employment for the right candidate.

Duties may include but not limited to:

  • Assist the HRM Admin assistant in Reviewing, amending, and developing relevant documents and checklists.
  • Assist in the booking of staff training, as requested.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Licence and Training register.
  • Assist with the recruiting and onboarding process.
  • General administration duties, as requested.

About You:

You a compassionate, optimistic individual wanting to make a difference in peoples lives especially our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and also have the following:

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  • Ability to show dedication and commitment to a training plan and to achieve a qualification.
  • Sound computer and work processing skills including MS. Excel etc.
  • Excellent written skills, with the ability to develop letters, emails, meeting minutes and general correspondence.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including a good standard of customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates language and numeracy skills in line with the Australian Core skills Framework (ACSF)
  • Willingness to show initiative and receive training from experienced mentors, receive feedback.
  • Effective and confident interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work proactively as part of a team and independently to meet deadlines coupled with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • An awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues, particularly in the health area which are affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, as well as a demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Practical Requirements:

  • Willingness to undertake a certificate 3 or higher as part of the traineeship
  • Willingness to undertake a literacy/numeracy assessment
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) – essential
  • Immunisation requirements – It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, COVID19 and pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment.
  • Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
